A Look Back at the Biking Craze...

An article from Sept. 21, 1972's Mecklenburg News from Chase City, Virginia. Skinny tires and a skinny rider. Let me correct a few of those factual inconsistencies. The bikes weighed 24 pounds and cost $350 at Higgins in Greensboro. The frames were lugged steel, not aluminum and would indeed last forever unless they were crashed into a ditch at high speed or hit by a car in New York City during a 1980s transit strike.
