Mike is a humble guy. He probably won't like that we hijacked his blog to post these félicitations, but we're doing it anyway. His humble nature is just one of the many reasons he's been awarded the prestigious American Randonneur Award for 2011. He does so many behind-the-scenes things, so quietly, and he does them well, with grace.

Thanks, Mike, for everything you do for us and our sport. Congratulations!

Congratulations, Mondial Mike!

Your blog has been hijacked once again . . .

Thanks for all that you've done locally and nationally for randonneuring, including but not restricted to: permanents; camaraderie on brevets, permanents, R-rides, P-rides; American Randonneur editor; Research Trailer Park blog owner; humor, wit, writing; and friend to randonneurs some of whom you've never yet met . . .

We are all the better when you are around.

Mike--you are indeed a great ambassador, nationally and internationally, for our beloved sport. Your total involvement in randonneuring as a rider, route owner, board member, writer/editor, and mentor to new riders make you most deserving of this award. I am sure that having the fortune to meet and ride with you on my very first brevet is why I came back to ride again and again and I am equally sure there are many others who share that feeling. Congratulations for receiving the recognition you so richly deserve.
