The blacktop resurfacing extends all the way from Erwin past the Averasboro Battlefield Museum with the exception of a 2-3 mile segment just before the battlefield on the Erwin side. The unpaved section is very smooth --- hard-packed dirt-limestone-dust mixture --- okay for cycling. Hopefully, the paving will be completed soon.
The beautiful scenery on the paved section was even more enjoyable to look at coming back through while traveling on a smooth surface.

Gary drops the "Civil-War-era asphalt" bomb and DOT gets crackin'. Maybe he could write up a few more roads for us before he leaves??
